Blockchain.com Secures EU License Under MiCA, Expands Institutional Services
Blockchain.com has obtained a pivotal regulatory license in Malta, granting it pan-European operational approval under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). The clearance eliminates fragmented national compliance requirements, allowing the platform to unify custody solutions and institutional offerings like treasury management across 30 European Economic Area countries.
Malta's crypto-friendly regulatory stance proved decisive. The jurisdiction has championed innovation-friendly frameworks while resisting excessive EU centralization of oversight—a contrast to France's preference for stricter controls. Fiorentina D’Amore, former chair of Malta's Financial Institutions Association, joins to lead the expansion, leveraging her experience with major crypto platforms.
